Updated 2024 NAPBC Standards Are Available

December 19, 2024

The NAPBC has released an updated version of its accreditation standards, Optimal Resources for Breast Care (2024 Standards). Please review the NAPBC standards and NAPBC Standards Changelog on the NAPBC website for complete information on these updates.

  • Standard 1.1: Administrative Commitment: The letter of commitment includes examples of current and future initiatives promoting equitable and inclusive healthcare practices and a culture of safety for providers and patients.
  • Standard 7.2: Quality Improvement Initiatives: This standard has been updated to include the suggested focus for developing a QI initiative using data to identify problems related to culture competency, individualized shared decision-making, and the implementation of health equity interventions in the breast program.

The following are important reminders for meeting compliance with the NAPBC standards in CY 2025.

  • Protocol Development for the 2024 Standards: The development and implementation of the protocols required by the 2024 NAPBC Standards was extended through December 31, 2024. All NAPBC-accredited programs must complete the development and implementation of the required protocols by January 1, 2025.
  • Standard 7.1: Quality Measures: Standard 7.1 remains in active development and will not be rated for compliance during CY 2025.
