In this issue:
Cancer Liaison Physicians (CLPs) are encouraged to complete the annual CLP survey by November 10. The Commission on Cancer (CoC) uses the results of the survey to evaluate educational and information resources and develop new materials to help CLPs meet the responsibilities of their role at their CoC-accredited programs. Contact mleeb@facs.org with questions about the survey.
Join us for an informational webinar November 14, at 11:00 am CT, to learn more about the 2026 Cancer Programs national quality improvement (QI) project, Timely Administration Post-Transurethral Resection of Bladder Tumor. This QI project is the first of its kind, centered on the National Cancer Database Quality Measure BLCT1.
Email cancerqi@facs.org with questions you would like speakers to address during the webinar.
The Commission on Cancer (CoC) encourages accredited cancer programs to promote lung cancer awareness and the importance of screening during November.
To help you promote Lung Cancer Awareness Month in your community, the CoC developed customizable posters that can be downloaded from the Marketing Resources section in QPort. The posters feature a CoC Surgical Quality Partners diamond and space for institutions to add their logo, which will allow programs an opportunity to promote their CoC accreditation and their commitment to educating the community on ways to reduce lung cancer risk.
Contact coc@facs.org with any questions.
Registration is open for accredited programs to participate in these ACS Cancer Programs webinars next month.
The National Cancer Registrars Association and California Board of Registered Nursing are offering Continuing Education credits for these webinars. Contact CancerProgramsEvents@facs.org with any questions.
Living Beyond Breast Cancer (LBBC) is accepting applications for its 2026 Survivorship Series, a national training program for oncology nurse navigators, oncology nurses, and other healthcare providers, including patient navigators, community health workers, and social workers. This program equips clinicians to support young people diagnosed with breast cancer as they move beyond active treatment. Topics covered will include sex and intimacy, early menopause, long-term side effects of treatment, and self-care.
Applications are open through November 14, and 2026 virtual training sessions are scheduled for January 20, February 10, and February 17. Contact LBBC at hcp@lbbc.org with any questions.
