The Commission on Cancer (CoC) has named Louisiana CoC State Chair John M. Lyons, lll, MD, FSSO, FACS, as the recipient of the 2025 State Chair Outstanding Performance Award. Dr. Lyons received the award for exhibiting outstanding leadership and innovation, as well as making significant contributions to the improvement of cancer care in his state. The Commission on Cancer (CoC) Cancer Liaison Program hosts the annual Cancer Liaison Physician (CLP) award program to recognize outstanding performance by CLPs in their role as the physician quality leaders of their accredited cancer programs. This year, 10 CLPs have been chosen to receive this award.
The CoC congratulates the award winners and thanks them for their leadership and dedication to improving the quality of care for cancer patients. The 2026 nomination period will open in the spring.
Cancer Liaison Physicians (CLP) are encouraged to complete the annual CLP survey by Friday, October 31.
