New Research Highlights Association of CoC Accreditation with Improved Treatment, Outcomes for Colon Cancer in Underserved Populations

September 5, 2024

The ACS has had a longstanding history of establishing and maintaining accreditation programs based on standards of care and data-driven quality assessment and improvement. New research published in JAMA Network Open highlights the association of CoC hospital accreditation with improved cancer treatment and outcomes for underserved populations.

In this national retrospective cohort study, increased receipt of guideline-concordant care and lower mortality risk were observed for non-Hispanic Black patients with colon cancer treated at CoC-accredited hospitals compared to non-CoC-accredited hospitals.
