PS303: Ductal Carcinomas in Situ (DCIS): Where Are We in 2024? Who Needs an Operation and Who Doesn’t?

Panelists will discuss the rapidly changing management of Ductal Carcinoma In Situ (DCIS). The latest retrospective literature now suggests that some cases of DCIS may be treated with observation or with de-escalation and soon the results of the Comparison of Operative to Monitoring and Endocrine Therapy for low-risk ductal carcinoma In Situ (COMET) trial will determine if observation of DCIS is safe in certain patients.

In this cutting-edge session, authors from the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons and the Society of Surgical Oncology who led the recently published ACS Operative Standards in Cancer Surgery sections on adrenal cancer, neuroendocrine cancers of the gastrointestinal tract and pancreas, and thyroid cancer will review in detail the technical aspects of resection of these malignancies. The session will include a video demonstration and question and answer period.

Join this Cancer Programs Meet the Experts session to learn more about the National Accreditation Program for Rectal Cancer (NAPRC), which was developed through a collaboration between the OSTRiCH (Optimizing the Surgical Treatment of Rectal Cancer) consortium and the CoC. The NAPRC aims to standardize and improve care using a multidisciplinary approach.
