The Cancer Surgery Standards Program (CSSP) is seeking applicants for the Chair of the Surgical Information Transformation Committee position. The chair will serve a 2-year term with privilege of reappointment to a second 2-year term.
The main goal of the Surgical Information Transformation Committee is to provide guidance on the collection of essential data elements for cancer surgery by developing synoptic operative report templates and cancer surgery protocols.
Individuals interested in the position should submit their curriculum vitae and a brief statement explaining how they could contribute to this role to Amanda Francescatti, Senior Manager, Cancer Research Program/Cancer Surgery Standards Program (afrancescatti@facs.org) by September 4. Candidates will need to take part in a panel interview in mid to late September.
We thank Tina Hieken, MD, FACS for her leadership as the Surgical Information Transformation Committee Chair since the CSSP launched in 2020. Under her leadership, cancer surgery protocols for nine disease sites have been developed, six protocols have been published on the Amazon Kindle store, and awareness of the value of synoptic operative reporting has grown. Dr. Hieken will be starting her term as Vice-Chair of the CSSP in October 2023.
