Cancer QI Initiative Helps Increase Treatment Compliance

January 11, 2024

In the November/December issue of the Bulletin of the American College of Surgeons, authors from ACS Cancer Programs discuss the Breaking Barriers national quality improvement initiative. The project was launched in January 2023, and aims to support CoC-accredited programs with the Barriers to Care standard. Cancer Programs provides guidance, resources, and consultation to CoC-accredited programs as they seek to identify specific barriers to patients missing appointments and develop resources to address these issues. In 2024, programs will participate in cohort learning to reduce barriers to care. If your program is interested in learning more, you can find information here.

New Prostate Cancer Awareness Month Marketing Tools Available

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. According to the American Cancer Society Cancer Facts & Figures 2023, there will be an estimated 288,300 new cases of prostate cancer diagnosed in the US and 34,700 men will die from the disease this year.
