RAS-ACS Communications Committee Essay Contest: Introduction from the RAS-ACS Communications Committee Chair

Meghana V. Kashyap, MD, DIM&PH

March 4, 2022

Every year, the Communications Committee of the Resident and Associate Society of the American College of Surgeons holds an essay contest on a theme selected by committee members. Given the recent change in the US Medical Licensing Examination Step 1 to a pass/fail system, the prompt selected was: More Than Just a Number: How Should We Be Evaluating Candidates for the Match? How do we move away from standardized testing, and how much is enough? The winning essay is available at https://bulletin.facs.org/?p=32141&preview=true.
