My ACS NewsScope

The American College of Surgeons (ACS) is pleased to announce the launch of My ACS NewsScope. This new communications vehicle builds on ACS NewsScope, using technology that allows us to bring you news not only from the ACS, but also from high-impact surgical journals, social media, and other sources of information. You will receive My ACS NewsScope in the evening Mondays and Wednesdays and the traditional College-focused ACS NewsScope on Thursday evening.

The first issue of My ACS NewsScope was distributed to all ACS members Wednesday, May 1, but the newsletter went through several weeks of pilot testing leading up to the launch. This publication applies artificial intelligence to tailor the newsletter to your individual specialty, interests, and needs based on the articles you click on. Our approximately 4,700 pilot testers reported that it took about six weeks for the algorithm to determine their unique preferences, so be patient during the initial phases of this effort. In the future, we also will be able to incorporate details from your ACS Member Profile into the algorithm, adding to personal customization.

We anticipate that you will find My ACS NewsScope valuable in staying aware of the issues and trends that affect your ability to provide quality care to surgical patients. Should you decide you no longer want to receive My ACS NewsScope, click on “unsubscribe” at the bottom of the newsletter. If you have any questions or comments, contact Diane Schneidman in the Division of Integrated Communications at dschneidman@facs.org.
