October is Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) Awareness Month. IPV can happen to anyone and can come in various forms.

This year, the ACS Committee on Intimate Partner Violence, along with other surgical associations—Society of Gynecologic Surgeons, American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and American Urogynecologic Society—will continue to inform surgeons of this issue and how even surgeons can experience IPV.

Throughout October, the ACS will share information on various IPV-related issues:

Intimate Partner Violence Awareness Month – When Children are Involved

Dr. Christine Castater, a member of the Committee on Intimate Partner Violence, discusses how abuse can affect children at home and what to consider if a victim has children.

IPV Awareness Month – IPV in Residency

Dr. Juliana Colvin, the Resident and Associate Society representative to the Committee on Intimate Partner Violence, highlights how IPV can affect residents and the resources available to them.

At the end of the month, the IPV Committee will host two free webinars. Learn more and register:
