The ACS offers the Objective Assessment of Skills in Surgery (OASIS) to identify areas of strength and areas for improvement in selected technical skills of Program Year 2 (PGY-2) surgical trainees.
ACS OASIS is a psychometrically tested formative assessment that uses simulation-based, time-limited stations with faculty assessors to measure resident performance on a series of technical tasks essential for surgical practice. ACS OASIS includes a comprehensive set of resources, including rater checklists, standardized instructional videos, objectives, and stems. Furthermore, the assessment tool offers step-by-step model-building instructions with a list of required materials.
Participating programs receive resident and program reports that will support surgical trainees, surgical educators, and program directors in tailoring learning activities to address individual and group needs in the competency-based education and training era.
Enrollment for the next participation period is open for residents completing PGY-2 in June 2026. The cost is $210 per participating resident.
