Toolkit Helps Prevent MRSA, SSIs

May 6, 2025

A new toolkit, released by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) can help surgeons and their care teams use evidence-based strategies to customize a program that guards against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and surgical site infections (SSIs).

The toolkit has three sections:

  • Key Strategies to Prevent MRSA
  • MRSA and SSI Prevention Phases
  • Comprehensive Unit-based Safety Program for MRSA Prevention

In addition, the AHRQ toolkit offers guidance and resources on how to operationalize the prevention strategies in your institution.
