Register for ACS Health Services Research Methods Course in November

June 27, 2023

This course has been canceled.

Are you interested in learning about and becoming proficient in developing high-quality health services and outcomes research? If so, consider registering for the ACS Health Services Research Methods (HSRM) Course, which takes place November 30–December 2 at the ACS Headquarters in Chicago, Illinois.

The HSRM Course provides didactic lectures and skills-based labs tailored to individual interests, and participants will have one-on-one consultations with leading experts focused on their specific research questions. In addition to quantitative and qualitative methods, participants will become familiar with mixed methods and implementation science. Breakout sessions will focus on writing R-award and K-award proposals and securing a first faculty position. Participants will engage in active discussion of scientific and practical aspects of ongoing surgical health services research from leaders in the field.

The education objectives of the course include:

  • Providing a primer on the core methodologies in outcomes and health services research, along with their applications in surgery
  • Helping surgeons manage, analyze, and interpret information from clinical registries and administrative databases
  • Providing surgeons with practical advice on developing an outcomes research agenda and academic careers in this area

Visit the HSRM Course web page for more information, including an agenda, and to register.
