The ACS Honors Committee invites members to submit nominations for The Rodman E. Sheen and Thomas G. Sheen Award.

Established in 1968, the Rodman E. Sheen and Thomas G. Sheen (Sheen) Award has been presented annually by the beneficiaries of a trust fund originally administered by Fleet Bank of Atlantic City, NJ.

At present, Bank of America, N.A., in Providence, Rhode Island, serves as the Trustee under the Will of Thomas G. Sheen and administers a perpetual trust. Income from the trust supports an annual award “to further the study of medicine and the science of medicine and to compensate an outstanding Doctor of Medical Science in the United States each year.”

Since 1982, the ACS Honors Committee has been responsible for considering nominees and submitting recommendations for three candidates each year to the Sheen Advisory Committee for final selection. A cash award is presented to the recipient.

Nominees should be at the forefront of medical science, engaged in work with significant promise, actively involved in teaching and research in medicine, and not retired or semi-retired.

Visit the Sheen Award web page for details and to submit a nomination.

Nominations must be received by June 30 to be considered during this review cycle. Nominations received after that date will be held for future consideration.

Questions may be directed to Ken Puttbach at kputtbach@facs.org.
