Two Residents Win Prestigious ACS Awards

The resident awards review panel of the ACS Committee on Resident Education is proud to announce the winners of two prestigious resident awards.

2026 Jameson L. Chassin, MD, FACS, Award for Professionalism in General Surgery
Congratulations to Alexandra Hernandez, MD, MCR, MS, chief resident in general surgery at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle. Dr. Hernandez has demonstrated the values of compassion, technical skill, and devotion to science and learning.

2026 ACS Resident Award for Exemplary Teaching
Congratulations to Taylor Carter, MD, MHPE, a general surgery resident at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Carter has demonstrated excellence in teaching by showing outstanding contributions to educational activities as an instructor.

Both resident awards will be presented to the winners during the Surgery Resident Series at Clinical Congress 2026 in Washington, DC.
