Register Today for ACS Surgical Simulation Summit

The ACS will host the 16th annual Surgical Simulation Summit, March 2–4 at the Swissôtel in downtown Chicago, IL. More than 300 people are expected to participate in the Summit, which brings together surgeons and simulation center directors, educators, administrators, engineers, and researchers to share best practices, present innovative research, and discuss the latest advances in simulation-based surgical education and training. Registration for the 2023 Summit is now open.

The Surgical Simulation Summit begins on Thursday, March 2, with a Keynote Address on the current state of scholarship and the evidence for the efficacy of simulation-based training by Richard K. Reznick, MD, MEd, FRCSC, FACS, professor and dean emeritus at Queen’s University and president of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. A special panel complementing the Keynote Address will take a deeper dive into three specific domains within the context of such scholarship. Panelists include Carla M. Pugh, MD, PhD, FACS, David A. Rogers, MD, FACS, and Dimitrios Stefanidis, MD, PhD, FACS.

A special MORE Track Session, titled Team R.E.S.P.E.C.T., will be offered on Thursday to explore concepts integral to teambuilding, including engagement, satisfaction, professional development, equity, communication, and trust.

On Friday afternoon, the ACS is partnering with the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) to explore how to advance simulation through collaboration with anesthesia, surgery, and quality improvement. Following this session, attendees will have the opportunity to mingle with colleagues old and new during a networking reception.

Scientific paper presentations, posters, and interactive workshops also are planned for the meeting.

The meeting concludes on Saturday afternoon.
