Registration is now open for the ACS Simulation in Surgical Education course, which will be held June 10–13 in Durham, NC.

This course was developed in response to growing interest in simulation-based training, especially with advancements in laparoscopic, endoscopic, and robotic surgery. As simulation centers evolve, trained faculty are essential for teaching these technologies. Over 4 days, participants will learn the fundamentals of surgical simulation teaching and giving feedback then apply techniques with trainees at the Duke Surgical Education and Activities Lab.

New for this year’s course are roundtable discussions on topics such as AI, Blackbox, simulation center administration, and DIY low-cost simulation models.

Surgeons with no prior experience in simulation and who wish to engage in surgical education and mentorship are encouraged to attend. The course will emphasize fundamental surgical skills that are applicable across all surgical specialties.
