The ACS, in association with Pfizer, Inc., is accepting nominations for the 2026 Surgical Volunteerism and Humanitarian Awards. All nominations must be submitted through the ACS nominations page by February 23, 2026.

The Surgical Volunteerism Award, offered in four potential categories annually (domestic, international, resident, and military), recognizes surgeons committed to giving back by making significant contributions to surgical care through organized volunteer activities.

The Academic Global Surgeon Award is given in recognition of surgeons who make significant contributions to surgical care through organized educational activities.

The Surgical Humanitarian Award is given in recognition of a fellow who has dedicated the majority portion of their career to ensuring the provision of surgical care to underserved populations without expectation of commensurate reimbursement.

The ACS encourages all to nominate any deserving Fellows or resident. Self-nominations are permissible and encouraged, but such nominations require at least two outside letters of support and three references (one of each must be of an ACS Fellow). Program directors are encouraged to consider nominating deserving residents.
