The Journal of the American College of Surgeons (JACS) is accepting applications for the position of Continuing Medical Education (CME) Editor. The selected individual will work closely with the JACS Editor-in-Chief and editorial office to oversee, develop, and curate monthly CME quizzes derived from selected JACS articles.

This position is voluntary and carries a 1-year term. Questions are generated on a monthly cycle, and the CME Editor will both actively contribute and participate in regular check-ins with the editorial leadership team.

The JACS CME Editor will:

  • Collaborate with the Editor-in-Chief and editorial staff to identify articles appropriate for monthly CME activities
  • Aid in development of high-quality CME questions that accurately reflect key learning points and clinical insights contained in each selected article
  • Ensure all CME content adheres to Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education standards for integrity, balance, and educational value
  • Maintain consistency, clarity, and educational rigor across quizzes and learning modules
  • Provide timely review and approval of monthly CME materials in coordination with the editorial office

Ideal surgeon candidates will have demonstrated expertise in education, evidence-based practice, and/or surgical subspecialty scholarship, preferably have prior experience with peer review, question writing, curriculum development, or CME activities, and show strong editorial judgment. Active ACS Fellowship is preferred.

Interested applicants should submit a brief letter of interest and current CV to jacsedit@facs.org.
