ACS Fellows Participate in a Week of Action to Prevent Medicare Payment Cuts

December 13, 2022

Last week, ACS Fellows participated in a “Week of Action” calling on Congress to prevent the entire Medicare payment cut before it takes effect on January 1.

The Colleges thanks all surgeons and other members who participated by using SurgeonsVoice and social media to contact their members of Congress. To date, nearly 3,000 surgeons have participated in SurgeonsVoice campaigns, resulting in more than 7,000 contacts to members of Congress regarding the Medicare payment cut. You can see if your member of Congress supports stopping the cuts by visiting www.stopthefullcut.com.

If you could not participate last week, Congress has not yet acted. There is still time to visit SurgeonsVoice.org and make your voice heard! Additionally, continue the conversation on social media by using the hashtag #StopTheFullCut. For more information on the cuts, visit the Surgical Care Coalition website.

Without congressional intervention, these drastic cuts will put additional strain on surgeons who are already struggling to keep up with the rising cost of delivering care. The ACS will continue acting through the end of this year to ensure that patients and surgeons are protected.
