INCISE Roundtable Focuses on Competency-Based Surgical Education

The ACS invites surgeon educators and others interested in surgical education to join an interactive roundtable discussion on the ACS Integrated National Curriculum in Surgical Education (INCISE) at Clinical Congress 2026 in Washington, DC.

This Special Interest Session, Let’s Talk! Roundtable Discussion on Best Practices of the ACS Integrated National Curriculum in Surgical Education (INCISE), takes place Monday, September 28, from 10:00 to 11:00 am. It will feature curriculum leaders from the ACS/ASE Medical Student Core Curriculum and ACS/ASE Medical Student Simulation-Based Skills Curriculum, as well as clerkship directors currently implementing INCISE at their institutions.   

This session will bring together experts who helped shape these foundational curricula and educators who are applying INCISE learning objectives and materials in real-world settings. They will share insights and best practices for integrating the curricula into competency-based surgical education for medical students. 

Designed as a highly interactive exchange, the roundtable will allow curriculum leaders, clerkship directors, and medical students to exchange perspectives on INCISE. Through open discussion, faculty and students will explore implementation experiences, the learner perspective, and opportunities to strengthen competency-based surgical education.
