Registration is open for an ACS International Relations Committee webinar detailing how global trauma training can be improved through international collaboration.
“Trauma Training in a Double South-to-North Collaboration: Powerful Lessons from a Unique 1-Year ‘Transatlantic’ Clinical Experience,” taking place 10:00 – 11:00am Central Tuesday, September 12, will discuss the unique experience of the first surgical resident in Belgium to complete a 12-month trauma training program overseas in a double south-to-north collaboration with Colombia and South Africa, will illustrate the learning possibilities offered by the global south in surgery, global trauma, and medicine.
Dr. Isadora Frick de la Maza from the Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium, and her surgical mentors will address the various benefits that global surgery training programs can have on personal and professional surgical development and will discuss how this innovative clinical experience may have a valuable didactic experience by deviating from conventional North-to-South teaching paradigms.
