August 12, 2025

The ACS Health Outreach Program for Equity in Global Surgery (ACS H.O.P.E.) Ambassador Program honors the dedication of nonacademic, community-based surgeons from high-income countries (HICs) who have consistently provided volunteer clinical care in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), often through long-standing and trusted partnerships.

Grounded in a commitment to patient-centered care and ethical collaboration, the ACS H.O.P.E. Ambassador Program aims to identify these surgeons, recognize their contributions, and develop a global surgery network devoted to responsible, sustained surgical outreach. Creating this network and highlighting these partnerships will foster shared learning, increased collaboration, and a deeper investment in improving surgical access and outcomes worldwide.

Selected individuals will serve as ambassadors of ACS H.O.P.E. for a 2-year term. Each ambassador will be awarded $1,500 to support their volunteer activities.

Responsibilities of the ACS H.O.P.E. Ambassadors include:

  • Engage with local ACS Chapters
  • Mentor early career global surgeons
  • Present work at Clinical Congress
  • Promote ACS programs
  • Report on activities and local impact
  • Encourage international ACS Membership

Learn more about the program and apply by August 31.
