Surgical Oncology Part II

This issue discusses important topics in the areas of head and neck (non-thyroid), thoracic, gynecologic, and genitourinary oncology as well as palliative care for patients with cancer and socioeconomic issues related to patient care. The final sections review complications of radiation therapy and chemotherapy. Although general surgeons may not regularly focus in these areas, they frequently advise patients and support colleagues managing difficult clinical problems; thus, general surgeons should maintain basic knowledge of these general oncological topics.
