Learning Objectives

Ethical Issues in Surgical Care defines the framework of the new field of surgical ethics as it has evolved over the last 10 years, establishing the boundaries of the important domains and organizing the essential components of surgical ethics. Practicing surgeons, surgeon-educators, and trainees can use the book as a resource to help them recognize ethical issues in surgical practice, identify the ethical principles underlying the dilemma, select and apply methodological approaches to thoroughly analyze the situation, seek consultation when needed, and make informed and defensible decisions.
