The Surgical Education and Self-Assessment Program, SESAP®, is a premier educational resource promoting excellence and expertise in surgical practice. The program is delivered online via a web-based program and optimized for use on mobile devices with the same content and features as on the desktop web version.
SESAP 19 consists of 640 multiple-choice, case-based questions that have been newly developed by 57 practicing surgeon authors, who are ACS Fellows. SESAP 19 Advanced offers 329 additional questions exploring more complex and nuanced topics.
Questions include evidence-based explanations for each answer option, hundreds of embedded media, thousands of references, and links to PubMed abstracts and related tools.
SESAP is designed for residents to personalize and reinforce learning. Popular features allow residents to:
Resident packages contain the same content as those for practicing surgeons. However, residents are not eligible to earn CME credit with SESAP 19 and SESAP 19 Advanced.
SESAP 19 and SESAP 19 Advanced will be available online for study through November 10, 2028.
ACS resident member pricing for SESAP 19 and SESAP 19 Advanced provides a 64% savings compared with nonmember pricing and a 50% savings compared with Fellow pricing.
To maximize study across general surgery topics, most residents purchase bundled packages, which are shown on the pricing table.
To join as a resident member or reinstate a lapsed membership, please visit the Resident Member page.
