SESAP® 18 offers flexible package options, suitable for a variety of educational preferences and surgical practices.
First determine whether you are eligible to earn continuing medical education (CME) credit and decide whether CME credit is needed. CME credit is not available to residents through SESAP 18. (Residents please refer to NonCME packages below.) All CME credit for SESAP 18 must be claimed by October 31, 2025. Web access to SESAP 18 will be discontinued on December 31, 2025, when the edition will be retired.
Then select whether you would like to purchase all nine categories—which includes an almost 10 percent savings and the option to add a print copy—or if you would like to purchase by category. When purchasing by category, the perioperative care and legal/ethics categories plus a minimum of one other category are required. Additional categories may be added later. Please visit the SESAP 18 Content webpage for a description of each category.
SESAP 18 offers a two-volume print of the program content. The printed version of SESAP 18 is available only when all nine web categories are purchased.
SESAP 18 provides 168 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™, all of which can be used for self-assessment purposes. CME credit is claimed by category. SESAP 18 is certified for credit through October 31, 2025, and all credit must be claimed by this date.
To earn CME credit, a CME package must be purchased and the program completed online. The print copy cannot be used to earn CME credit. If selected, the print will be shipped after CME requirements are successfully completed and credit is claimed online.
CME participants must complete a process of self-study and review, followed by a CME test, to show mastery of the content and to reinforce learning. To obtain CME credit, 80 percent of the questions must be answered correctly within three attempts. Additional review is offered until a score of 80 percent is achieved.
NonCME packages contain the same questions, critiques, and references as the CME version. The NonCME web program includes a process of self-study and review and does not include tests for credit. However, the program will track progress and provide a score during self-study. Resident members of the ACS may generate a Residents Report from the web program to document progress for program directors. Also, answers in self-study can be reset for further practice and custom assessments may be created across categories. The NonCME print copy is shipped at the time of purchase. Web access to SESAP 18 will be discontinued on December 31, 2025, when the edition will be retired.
