Point of Care CME Activity

The American College of Surgeons (ACS) now offers Point of Care CME to support the need for real-time learning. Point of Care learning allows physician learners (both ACS Members and non-Members) to engage in self-directed learning on topics related to clinical practice, patient care, or other areas of professional development. Each Point of Care CME activity offers 0.5 CME Credits, corresponding with 30 minutes of research, analysis, and reflection, and costs $25 per 0.5 CME Credit. The flexible format allows the opportunity for self-paced education on relevant topics of interest, which can be linked to an individual learning plan. Learners can complete many of these self-paced activities throughout the year. Login and access the Point of Care CME activity through the ACS course catalog.

Instructions

1. Identify a topic or research question addressing your practice.
2. Research the topic using appropriate (unbiased, professional, evidence-based, and/or peer-reviewed) resources. Consider utilizing databases such as Medscape, PubMed/MEDLINE, websites such as Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, ACS resources such as the Division of Education Resources, the Journal of the American College of Surgeons, and more.
3. To initiate the credit claiming process, visit learning.facs.org and navigate to title: Point of Care. Complete the registration process to access the Point of Care CME activity.
4. Complete the Point of Care evaluation requirements, documenting the process, new learning, and potential impact on practice/patient care.
5. Claim 0.5 CME credits. Your CME Certificate will be available immediately through MyCME following completion of the activity.
