Didactic and Surgical Skills Courses

All Didactic and Surgical Skills Courses are ticketed and require a separate fee in addition to registering for the meeting (required). Participation is limited and seats are filled on a first-come, first-processed basis.

Most of the Didactic and Surgical Skills Courses will have two parts. Part 1 will consist of virtual study materials provided to registrants prior to the Part 2 in-person course presented onsite.

AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ for Didactic and Surgical Skills Courses may be claimed after completing all requisite parts of a course. To claim CME Credits, participants must complete the course evaluation and the global evaluation.

Course Fee Categories

Fellow/Associate Fellow: A surgeon who is a Fellow or Associate Fellow of the American College of Surgeons

Guest Physician: A practicing physician who is not currently a member of the ACS

Resident: Any verified resident—registering for Clinical Congress grants automatic membership to verified residents and medical students

Healthcare Teammate: A nurse, office manager, or technician

ACS System for Verification of Knowledge and Skills

The ACS Board of Regents has approved a five-level model for verification and documentation of knowledge and skills by the Division of Education, following participation in the educational programs of the College. This model provides a framework for designing and implementing educational courses based on principles of contemporary surgical education and permits a provision of appropriate documentation to the attendees. The courses offered at Clinical Congress have been assigned verification levels of I, II, or III, based on the requirements for each level.

Level
Verification of
Requirement(s)

Level V Satisfactory patient outcomes Not available at Clinical Congress
* A passing score of 75% or higher is required on the posttest.

All requirements of these Didactic and Surgical Skills Courses must be completed in order to receive AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ and count for Self-Assessment Credit toward Part 2 of the Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Program. For American Board of Surgery (ABS) Diplomates, the MOC Part 2 requirement applies to those who have not yet completed the first ABS Continuous Certification Program Assessment Exam. Please refer to the online program and session descriptions to confirm.

A nonmember Resident or Medical Student registering for Clinical Congress will be granted automatic membership in the American College of Surgeons. Application fees will be waived if appropriate documentation is supplied verifying Resident or Medical Student status.
