October 20, 2024
Clinical Congress 2024 officially begins this morning with an Opening Ceremony focused on recognizing prominent surgeons and reflecting on the ACS’s achievements in the past year.
The ceremony will begin at 8:00 am in the Ballroom Level 3 West. To access this location, conference attendees can exit the main conference location, Moscone Center South, at 747 Howard Street, turn left, and walk to the next intersection. Moscone Center West is located across the street diagonally, and free coffee will be served outside the Ballroom area.
Beth H. Sutton, MD, FACS, the newly installed 105th President of the ACS, will preside over the ceremony, which will open with a color guard and national anthems of the US and Canada. Following this, Dr. Sutton will introduce the newly inducted Honorary Fellows and recognize past and present ACS officers. Special invited guests from national and international healthcare organizations, as well as Resident Research Scholars and International Guest Scholars will be recognized.
ACS Executive Director and CEO Patricia L. Turner, MD, MBA, FACS, will then give her annual speech on the state of the ACS, highlighting major achievements from the past year—including expansions in the Quality Programs, educational opportunities, and practice resources for all surgeons—as well as aims for the House of Surgery in the coming year.
All Clinical Congress attendees are encouraged to attend the Opening Ceremony.
The Martin Memorial Lecture, which will be delivered by Lester Martinez-Lopez, MD, MPH, will follow immediately in the same location.
