ACS Core General Surgery Review for Residents

The ACS Core General Surgery Review for Residents is a new three-day course developed by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Division of Education. This engaging course is specifically designed for residents interested in an intense review of general surgery. The course may also be beneficial for those preparing for general surgery-qualifying or other examinations, as well as for those transitioning to general surgery practice or advanced training.

The inaugural course was held July 6–8, 2019.

Course Content

The course may be used to identify strengths and areas for additional study in the essential content areas of general surgery, including:

  • Alimentary tract
  • Endocrine and soft tissue
  • Oncology
  • Skin and breast
  • Surgical critical care
  • Trauma
  • Vascular
  • Perioperative care
  • Special topics (transplantation, geriatric care, medical ethics, and biostatistics)
