View the Agenda

In honor of its 10-year anniversary, the annual meeting was rebranded as the Annual ACS Surgical Simulation Conference. Highlights from the conference included the keynote address by Jeffrey P. Gold, MD, FACS, Chancellor of the University of Nebraska Medical Center, titled, “Transforming Health Professions Education: To Dare Mighty Things,” which was followed by a special panel that discussed the value proposition of simulation. Meeting sessions examined various aspects of simulation-based training, such as coaching the next generation using simulation and linking simulation to institutional quality improvement and risk management. An interactive debate explored whether or not simulation should be used for selection of entry into surgical residency. As in years past, attendees also participated in interactive workshops, scientific paper presentations, posters, and a range of networking opportunities.
