American College Of Surgeons - Inspiring Quality: Highest Standards, Better Outcomes

Welcome to Virtual ACS Clinical Congress 2020

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Program Committee and the Division of Education, we would like to extend to you a warm welcome to the Virtual Clinical Congress 2020 of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). This year, the Clinical Congress is being offered completely online as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and will be held October 3–7, 2020. Each day, the Educational Program will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm (Central time). The program includes Named Lectures, Panel Sessions, Symposium of the ACS Academy of Master Surgeon Educators, Special Sessions, Forum Sessions, Video-based Education Sessions, and Meet-the-Expert Sessions. Didactic Courses, Skills Courses, and Town Halls will not be offered this year. The sessions on Saturday and Sunday are especially designed to address the needs of surgical trainees and medical students. The recordings of the entire program of the virtual Clinical Congress 2020 will be available for a period of time after the Clinical Congress. The Clinical Congress Program should help in addressing specific educational needs based on individual surgical practices, interests, and evolving regulatory requirements.

The Clinical Congress Program will offer more than 200 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ that may be claimed following participation in this five-day program or through subsequent review of the recorded content. The CME Credits will also address a range of regulatory mandates, including state requirements for re-licensure. Such credits will address antimicrobial stewardship, cultural competency, domestic violence, end-of-life care, ethics, opioid/pain management, palliative care, and patient safety.

We are extremely grateful to the Members of the Clinical Congress Program Committee, Advisory Councils, and Standing Committees who have made extraordinary contributions to the Clinical Congress 2020. We would like to convey our special thanks to the outstanding staff of the Division of Education and from across the ACS for their exemplary dedication and untiring efforts in supporting the conversion of the previously planned in-person Clinical Congress to a virtual conference.

The ACS has decided to offer the Clinical Congress 2020 at no cost to the registrants. We encourage you to take full advantage of this outstanding educational opportunity!
