The General Surgery Coding and Reimbursement Committee (GSCRC) represents and acts in the interest of general surgeons and their patients regarding coding, billing, practice management, reimbursement, compensation, and the value that surgeons add to the healthcare system.
The GSCRC works to ensure proper reimbursement for surgeons by making relative value unit (RVU) recommendations—which may be used by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to set physician payment rates—to the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) Editorial Panel and the Relative Value System (RVS) Update Committee (RUC).
