Dr. Waddah Al-Refaie Is Appointed Secretary of ACS Foundation Board

Waddah B. Al-Refaie, MD, FACS, has been appointed as the new Secretary of the ACS Foundation Board of Directors.

Dr. Al-Refaie is a surgical oncologist and chair of surgery at CHI Health System and Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. An ACS Fellow since 2009, Dr. Al-Refaie’s dedication to excellence in clinical care, academic research, and advancing equity in surgery position him as a strong leader for the ACS Foundation’s next chapter. 

As the Foundation Board Secretary, Dr. Al-Refaie will help steward the Foundation’s mission to support education, research, and scholarships in the field of surgery. With his background in surgical outcomes research, quality improvement, and health-equity issues, he brings a unique perspective that aligns with the Foundation’s goals. His leadership is poised to enhance the Foundation’s ability to support initiatives that improve surgical care across diverse populations. Dr. Al-Refaie is a member of the ACS Nebraska Chapter
