At the heart of any research program is the process of discovering new knowledge. At the ACS, it even goes beyond that. The question is, how can we apply new knowledge to improve patient outcomes? That’s why we research what is known, what is not known, and what we can develop to improve surgical care and education for the benefit of the patient.

Our Four-Fold Mission: One, to reduce the impact of cancer by increasing knowledge and awareness of new evidence and practice standards. Two, to increase the participation of oncology surgeons in cancer research and cancer care activities. Three, to develop and implement evidence-based practices in surgical oncology. And four, to create opportunities for meaningful health services research.
