TQIP Annual Meeting Call for Abstracts

It is our pleasure to invite you to participate in the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ACS COT) Trauma Quality Improvement Program’s (TQIP) Call for Abstracts. All abstracts received will be reviewed and considered for poster presentation at the TQIP Annual Scientific Meeting and Training, November 16-18 in Dallas, TX. We may select some abstracts for oral presentation during the scientific meeting.

This is your chance to share with other TQIP centers all the interesting initiatives you have put in place at your hospital. We want to know what internal performance improvement efforts you have embarked on and how you have been using TQIP in your center. Registry staff, we strongly encourage you to present any data quality initiatives you have put in place that have made a difference in your centers. You may submit abstracts on any quality improvement topic, but we are specifically calling for abstracts on the following topics:

  • Data validation
  • Error management
  • Geriatrics
  • Hemorrhage control
  • Injury prevention
  • Orthopaedic trauma care
  • Pediatrics
  • Performance improvement
  • Registry
  • Traumatic brain injury
  • Trauma systems/collaboratives
  • Triage, transfer, and rural trauma centers
  • Trauma verification

Abstracts may be chosen for oral presentations or posters. Determinations will be made based on subject matter, strength of the performance improvement process including loop closure and the use and strength of data. Those who had posters and presentations last year are encouraged to resubmit with additional outcome data or loop closure.

Your abstract should answer the following questions:

  • What is the problem or challenge you identified?
  • Describe the intervention you developed or change you implemented to address the problem.
  • How did you measure the effects of the change?
  • How did you sustain the change?

We look forward to all the interesting abstracts you submit and the fascinating posters they will become.

Submission Guidelines

  • No more than 3 abstracts can be submitted per person.
  • Submitters must be employed at a currently enrolled, or in-process, TQIP facility.

Submission Details

How to Submit Your Abstract

To submit your abstract, you will need to create a new user account profile in the abstract submission site. Once you create your account, you will receive an e-mail with your login ID and auto-generated Access Key (password). If you wish to review or edit your submission, visit the abstract submission site and have your login ID and Access Key on hand. Those who submitted an abstract in 2018 will need to create a new user account for 2019.

Deadline

Abstracts must be submitted by 11:59 pm (CDT) on June 15. Abstracts will not be accepted nor revised after the deadline, including changes, deletions, or additions to the author order. Please be sure to include adequate information and objective data, so that your abstract may be properly evaluated.

Notification

Notification of abstract acceptance will be sent by mid-September 2019. All committee decisions are final. If your abstract is selected for a poster, you will be asked to present during the Poster Session on Saturday, November 17. If your abstract is selected for an oral presentation, TQIP staff will contact you with more details.
