American College Of Surgeons - Inspiring Quality: Highest Standards, Better Outcomes

ACS ITDX File Acceptance

In response to our participants' requests, the American College of Surgeons (ACS) will allow 2019 and 2020 data submissions to the Trauma Quality Programs (TQP) Data Center using either an NTDS data file or an ITDX data file. Our acceptance of both NTDS and ITDX allows more participants to upload the file format created by their hospital registry product directly to our Data Center to meet TQIP/NTDB submission requirements.

Regardless of the file format your hospital selects to upload, the data submission process remains the same on the TQP Data Center. Please review the Data Uploader tutorial found in the Data Center Resources section of the TQP Participant Hub for a step-by-step walk through of the data submission process.

If you are unclear about what file format is exported from your registry, or how to create that export, please contact your trauma registry vendor directly. However, don't hesitate to contact us at TraumaQuality@facs.org with any questions on submitting data to the TQP Data Center.

To ensure that ITDX data files meet the requirements of the NTDS validator, certain data transformations will take place on the backend during the submission process. These conversions will allow you to submit accurate and quality data using an ITDX data file. The next section contains a comprehensive list of ITDX data transformations that occur in the TQP Data Center.

ACS ITDX Internal Transformations

Any validation flags that occur outside of what is listed below will be treated as a valid validation error and will fail the Data Center uploader.

Structural Transformations

  • All elements included under the "Exceptions" tag of an ITDX file will be universally ignored
  • If data submission occurs under the file type TQIP without Process Measures all Process Measure (PM) elements will be ignored
