American College Of Surgeons - Inspiring Quality: Highest Standards, Better Outcomes

RTTDC Resources

The 4rd edition of Rural Trauma Team Development Course® (RTTDC) materials is now available. For the new edition, the American College of Surgeons (ACS) offers a full-color, spiral-bound course text that includes worksheets so that RTTDC team members can leave a course with a list of their specific responsibilities during each step of a primary assessment.

Production Information

$50 per text, plus shipping charges, when purchased for approved RTTDC courses with a course serial number or for RTTDC faculty.

The other course materials are contained on a USB drive, which is available to Level I, II, and III trauma centers that present RTTDC at no charge.

To obtain a USB drive, contact the program office at 312-202-5160 or

CME Information

The American College of Surgeons designates this live activity for a maximum of 8 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ for the RTTDC 4th Edition. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) will recognize these credits, so nurses who complete RTTDC will receive a certificate to claim CEUs from the ANCC. Prehospital providers will also get this certificate so they can claim CEs from a state EMS agency.

For those familiar with ATLS, this is a similar system and uses the same database as ATLS. Fourth Edition RTTDC courses must be requested and documented through the Course Management System. For information and assistance on how to use the course management system, please contact the program office at 312-202-5160 or
