SSR Participation Can Help You Avoid a 4 Percent Penalty in Medicare Payments

Dear SSR Participants,

As we are approaching the end of the MIPS 2017 performance year, there is still more than ample time to avoid a 4 percent cut to your Medicare payments in 2019 by participating in the Surgeon Specific Registry (SSR). Failure to submit any data in 2017 will result in a 4 percent penalty in your Medicare Part B payments in 2019.

Check your MIPS participation status to determine if you are eligible to participate in MIPS 2017. If you wish to test the MIPS program and avoid the 4 percent penalty, then you can attest to the implementation of at least one Improvement Activity in 2017 by using the ACS SSR. A condensed list of the surgically relevant activities that are available for simple attestation on the SSR can be found on the ACS website. Attesting to ONE Improvement Activity on the SSR takes on average 10-15 minutes, including logging in, consenting, and submitting. If you do not have an SSR account, you can register for one. The deadline to submit any MIPS 2017 data through the SSR is Wednesday, January 31, 2018.

For any SSR programmatic questions, including MIPS participation, please contact the ACS SSR Program at SSR@facs.org or at 312-202-5408.

For SSR technical questions or issues (e.g., password reset, etc.), please contact Technical Support at ACSTechSupport@quintilesims.com, or at 877-600-7237 (toll-free).

Thank you,

Your SSR Team
