American College Of Surgeons - Inspiring Quality: Highest Standards, Better Outcomes

SSR Users Updates: October

ACS SSR MIPS 2018 Participation Available

Dear SSR Participant,

The American College of Surgeons (ACS) Surgeon Specific Registry (SSR) allows you the option to participate in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) for the 2018 performance year.

Submitting MIPS 2018 data to CMS will allow you to potentially either avoid a negative payment adjustment or earn a positive payment adjustment in calendar year 2020. The SSR is supporting the Quality and Improvement Activities performance categories of MIPS 2018, and submitting MIPS data through the SSR is considered individual and registry-based reporting by CMS. Visit the ACS SSR website for more information about MIPS 2018 participation, including requirements, specifications, and instructional resources.

MIPS 2018 Quality Measures reporting includes options for general surgeons, trauma surgeons (currently only available to surgeons at TQIP-participating sites), and a wide variety of other surgical specialties. There is even a new electronic Patient Reported Outcome (ePRO) measure that is based on the S-CAHPS (Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems Surgical Care Survey) survey. Additionally, surgeons have 86 surgically relevant Improvement Activities to choose from for attestation.

Verify your eligibility and plan to participate in CMS MIPS for the 2018 performance year via the ACS SSR. Sign up now for MIPS 2018 through the SSR following the instructions in the MIPS 2018 Participation Quick Guide.

Please note the deadline to approve your MIPS 2018 data submission via the SSR is Thursday, January 31, 2019. The SSR will also be hosting several webinars regarding MIPS 2018 participation via the SSR. Register now for an upcoming webinar, where you can learn more about MIPS 2018 and ask any questions.

For any SSR questions, including MIPS participation, please contact the ACS SSR at or 312-202-5408.

For SSR technical questions or issues (for example, password reset), please contact Technical Support at or 1-877-600-7237 (toll-free).

Thank you for participating in the SSR and MIPS.
