Dr. Maurice Nahabedian is a professor and the vice chairman of department of plastic surgery at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. He completed a full general surgery residency at the University of California Irvine in 1992 and a plastic surgery residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1995. He was on the plastic surgery faculty at Johns Hopkins 1995–2005 before joining the faculty at Georgetown University in 2005.

He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, American Association of Plastic Surgeons, and American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery. He has performed more than 2,000 breast reconstructions using flaps as well as prosthetic devices. Dr. Nahabedian has chaired 17 national conferences as well as having published more than 200 scientific manuscripts, editorials, and discussions, and 54 book chapters. He has edited 6 textbooks on breast surgery and abdominal wall reconstruction. Dr. Nahabedian is the Breast Section Editor for the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and is on the editorial board of four other surgery journals.
