Dr. Peter M. Jokich received his BA in chemistry (Summa Cum Laude) from Valparaiso University, IN, in 1977 and his MD from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago in 1981. He completed his internship and residency in diagnostic radiology at the University of Chicago Medical Center in 1985, serving as chief resident in his fourth year. He served on the faculty in the radiology department at the University of Chicago from 1985–1989, and was then recruited as the director of the newly organized section of breast imaging at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, where he practiced 1989–1999. After a two-year stay back at the University of Chicago, he returned to Rush University Medical Center in 2001 as an associate professor of radiology and the director of the section of breast imaging and the medical director of the new Rush Breast Imaging Center.

He is currently director of the division of breast imaging at Rush, and of the Regenstein Brest Imaging Center—a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. He is one of approximately100 Fellows nationally of the Society of Breast Imaging, and was a regular examiner for the oral board examination of the American Board of Radiology. Dr. Jokich is a Fellow of the American College of Radiology (ACR) and was a former member of the ACR Joint Committee on Breast Imaging for Appropriateness Criteria and Guidelines; a current member of the ACR Committee on Government Relations for Breast Imaging; a current member of the current Rush University Cancer Center; and a member of the Board of the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers representing the Society of Breast Imaging. He was one of the three original co-chairs of the Rush Cancer Program Leadership. Dr. Jokich lectures on breast imaging topics both locally and nationally, and has done numerous print, radio, and television interviews related to breast cancer and breast imaging.

Dr. Jokich resides in Burr Ridge, IL with his wife, Cheryl, the former director of the Nurse Anesthesia program at Rush. They have three grown daughters; Alexandra, a television reporter with WWMT (a CBS affiliate) in Kalamazoo, MI; Carly, a child life specialist at Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago; and Ava, who works in social media marketing in Chicago.
