Dr. Lynn Damitz joined the University of North Carolina (UNC) department of surgery in the division of plastic surgery in 2000. Prior to her faculty appointment, she completed her general and plastic surgery residency training at UNC followed by two fellowships in breast and aesthetic surgery in Charlotte, NC, and Nashville, TN. Since joining the faculty, she continued a busy clinical practice with a significant focus and experience in the area of breast surgery including breast reconstruction and revisional surgery. Dr. Damitz is actively involved in organized medicine including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons where she is currently chair of state affairs for the Legislative Advocacy Committee; vice chair for the Membership Recruitment, Compliance, and Development Committee; an active member of both the Patient Safety and Health Policy/Delivery subcommittees for the past decade; and outgoing chair of the Women Plastic Surgeons Steering Committee as well as a senior oral board examiner for the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Regionally, Dr. Damitz serves currently as a trustee on the board of the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons.

Dr. Damitz holds an adjunct faculty appointment at the University of Notre Dame College of Science in the Preprofessional Studies Program and provides advisory support to the Hillebrand Center for Compassionate Care in Medicine at the University of Notre Dame.
