Dr. Richard J. Bleicher is a breast surgical oncologist and director of the Society of Surgical Oncology-approved breast fellowship program at the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, PA, where has been on faculty since 2006. Dr. Bleicher is the leader of the breast service line (clinical program) at Fox Chase where he is an associate professor in the department of surgical oncology. He has been involved with the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) since 2007 and is now on the NAPBC Board of Directors, a member of the Information Technology and Outcomes Committee, and a Surveyor for the NAPBC.

He has been heavily involved in academic committees and organizations, and his busy clinical practice is entirely devoted to patients with breast cancer and breast disease. Dr. Bleicher’s areas of clinical research in breast cancer have included breast imaging, surgical treatment, decision making, evaluation-associated delays, and health services research, via national datasets including SEER-Medicare and the National Cancer Database.

Dr. Bleicher graduated from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, and completed a general surgical residency at the Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh. He completed a surgical oncology fellowship at the John Wayne Cancer Institute in Santa Monica, CA. Dr. Bleicher was born and resides in Philadelphia. For recreation, he enjoys spending time outdoors and general fitness activities.
