American College Of Surgeons - Inspiring Quality: Highest Standards, Better Outcomes

December 2020 ACS Cancer Programs Conference Quality Cancer Care in Motion canceled due to COVID-19

Due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, ACS Cancer Programs leadership has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 ACS Cancer Programs Conference: Quality Cancer Care in Motion that had been scheduled for December 2–4, 2020 in Rosemont, Illinois.

This fall and winter we will be offering a series of webinars that will address a portion of the content that was planned for the December conference as well as education on additional topics of interest for our colleagues in accredited programs.

Visit the Cancer Programs Events and Cancer Programs News web pages for more information about each series, including the schedule, topics, speakers, and descriptions as well as the links to webinar registration.

The American College of Surgeons Cancer Programs Webinar Series

Better Data; Better Quality; Better Outcomes

Content for this series will focus on the new National Cancer Database (NCDB) reporting platform and data collection processes in addition to improvements to data elements and codes in the STORE Manual, along with changes to the AJCC cancer staging system.

Register today to reserve your space to attend, A Better Way to Follow: Collaboration Between Hospitals and State Registries scheduled for September 30, 2020 at 12:00 Noon Central. NCRA CE credits have been approved for this webinar.

Webinar description: Current practices expect each hospital to obtain follow up information for patients with cancer on their own. This individualized process increases the workload for physicians, registries in tertiary hospitals, and patients who may receive multiple requests for information and overlooks the role of the state or central registries in cancer surveillance. The collaborative effort to obtain follow up information brings additional power to the work of both hospitals and state registries and makes follow up work more efficient and effective.

Register to attend the second webinar in this series, Rationale for Radiation Oncology Data Items in STORE 2018, offered on October 21, 2020 at 11:00 am Central. NCRA CE credits have been approved for this webinar.

Webinar description: The data items describing radiation oncology treatment have not been modified for several years and limited the ability to capture new and more specific data which affect both the ability to analyze and report treatment results and patient outcomes. The new radiation oncology fields released in the STORE Manual make the data more relevant and easier to capture new trends in the field of radiation oncology.
