As COVID-19 vaccinations continue to roll out and ramp up across the country, members of the medical community have voiced concerns regarding recommendations, access, and adverse effects for cancer patients. The American College of Surgeons Cancer Programs will host a webinar to review these issues, including:
- Consensus COVID-19 vaccination recommendations for patients in active cancer treatment, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and hormone therapy.
- Specifics for COVID-19 vaccination in breast cancer patients, including those in hormone therapy follow up; where to deliver the vaccine for unilateral breast cancer; and findings on and timing of screening mammograms.
- Clinical factors associated with worse outcomes amongst cancer patients infected with COVID-19, including potential underlying immune mechanisms behind severe COVID-19 infection.
