NCDB: The Corner STORE

CAnswer Forum

The CAnswer Forum is an interactive virtual Bulletin Board for Commission on Cancer (CoC) constituents to ask questions, search topics, and connect with the latest CoC activities. It continues to serve as an open forum for networking and discussion of multiple topics including the National Cancer Database (NCDB), Facility Oncology Registry Data Standards (FORDS), and STandards for Oncology Registry Entry (STORE). The NCDB encourages CoC-accredited programs to utilize the CAnswer Forum to share best practices, submit questions regarding unusual scenarios, and seek guidance in understanding coding instructions. For program-specific questions, please contact ncdb@facs.org, include the program FIN and specifics of the issues to allow the NCDB staff to respond appropriately.

RQRS

The IT issue that affected updating of the case lists, alerts, and dashboards has been resolved. Communication will be coming out shortly regarding the rating of Standard 5.2 for programs surveyed in 2019 (calendar years 2016, 2017, 2018). Continue to access The Brief for any updates.

CP3R

NCDB is currently in the final stages of reviewing the 2016 diagnosis year cases to be released in CP3R. Once the review has been completed and CP3R has been released, registrars will be asked to review their 2016 data in preparation for the release, in early 2019, of the following NCDB Tools: (1) Site by Stage Report, (2) NCDB Completeness and Default Overuse Reports for 2016 Diagnoses Submitted in 2018, and (3) CQIP report.

To meet compliance for Standards 4.4 and 4.5, programs can report on any of the current available CP3R estimated performance rates for the 23 quality measures. The standard(s) do not specify which diagnosis year is required but only that the program report on the available information.

Communication on the release dates for the NCDB Reporting Tools will be sent to CoC staff contacts and posted on the CoC website as they become available.
