American College Of Surgeons - Inspiring Quality: Highest Standards, Better Outcomes

Cancer Liaison Program Resource Development

Thank you for serving as the Cancer Liaison Physician (CLP) for your institution's CoC-accredited cancer program. Your hard work and dedication to supporting your accredited cancer program and to improving the quality of care for cancer patients is greatly appreciated.

We understand these are incredibly stressful times for physicians and other healthcare professionals. We are committed to providing the best and most useful resources to our CLPs, which in turn will help them be more effective in their role.

For that reason, the CoC is creating new educational materials and resources that we hope will improve your experience and effectiveness as a CLP. On March 19, we sent an email asking you to take a few minutes to complete a survey that would provide us with the information we need to develop these resources and meet your needs.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are extending the deadline to complete this survey to May 15, 2020.

For your reference, your role is defined as follows in the  Optimal Resources for Cancer Care 2020 Standards:

  • Identify, analyze, and present National Cancer Database (NCDB) data pertinent and specific to your cancer program to the cancer committee.
  • Attend the CoC site visit and meet with the site visit reviewer to discuss the cancer program, CLP responsibilities, and the NCDB quality reporting tools.
  • Oversee the Quality Improvement initiative as described in Standard 7.3.
  • Serve as a liaison with the local American Cancer Society staff.
Thank you for your participation and please don't hesitate to reach out to Melissa Leeb at mleeb@facs.org if you have any questions about the survey.
