CoC Cancer Liaison Physicians Meeting October 22, 2020 Recording Now Available

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend the virtual CoC Cancer Liaison Physicians (CLP) meeting on Thursday, October 22, 2020. A brief summary of the meeting is below:

CoC Committee on Cancer Liaison Chair Peter Hopewood, MD, FACS, opened the CLP meeting with a review of new orientation resources for CLPs, an update regarding site visits, and highlights from the recent CLP survey. National Cancer Database (NCDB) Information and Data Standards Manager Susanne Kessler, MSM, RHIT, CTR, and NCDB Quality Reporting and Analytics Manager Bryan Palis reported on the new Rapid Cancer Reporting System (RCRS). Dr. Hopewood then facilitated a panel discussion with CLPs Michael Sarap, MD, FACS; Joshua Taylor, MD, FACS; Theodoros Voloyiannis, MD, FACS, FASCRS; and Richard White, MD, FACS. The panelists discussed their proudest accomplishments and biggest challenges and offered advice to those new to the CLP role. Following the discussion, CoC Accreditation Committee Chair James Harris, MD, FACS, presented an overview of the role and expectations of the CLP as defined in the CoC standards.
